Snooker champ Steve Davis reveals wish to party at Berghain
The DJ names he wants to be called are cracking, too
You know that six-time world snooker champion Steve Davis is playing at Bloc Weekender now, right? If not, the techno lover is appearing on the same line-up as Jeff Mills, Omar-S and Nina Kraviz this weekend.
We thought he'd just be playing under his given name, just as he does on his radio show, but he's told the Guardian two alias options.
Talking of his excitement for Bloc, the retired snooker player said: “I’m like a kid waiting for Christmas. I’m either going to be DJ Thundermuscle or Rocky Flame."
It could be tongue-in-cheek but one thing that is serious is his wish to go to Berghain. The Guardian writes "he’s now longing for a trip" to the Berlin techno haven, though Davis explains that he's no energetic fist-pumper, just a "foot-tapper" in the dance.
After giving props to Ricardo Villalobos and Surgeon last November, Warp Records artists Oneohtrix Point Never gets his nod this time.
He said: “He’s just so clever. He’s like a modern-day composer, as clever as Stravinsky or Bartók."
Have a blinder this weekend, Thundermuscle.
