Silent Servant has shared his latest EP, 'In Memoriam'.

Acting as a "deeply personal memoir of a 30-plus year career spent exploring and absorbing the shadowy side of music", the body of work distils the musician's - realname Juan Mendez - memories, whilst taking a contemporary approach to his production.

It comprises of an ode, almost, to people, places and times of the past, and their lasting effect on Mendez's present.

"This EP is the first time I have been able to take all my memories and influences and distill them into musical form," Mendez tells Mixmag.

"From my love of Detroit techno (Model 500 & Cybotron) on 'M-87', to the more Wave EBM on 'M-90', to the dub techno world of Basic Channel and and Chain Reaction on 'M-99', and finally to Techno from New York, Berlin and the UK of the 2000s on 'M-00'".

Member of the Sandwell District collective, and as its art director, Silent Servant's 'In Memoriam' is therefore not only mindful of his endeavour as a producer in his own right. Through Sandwell District, he collaborated on works that challenged the paradigm of minimal techno, drawing inspiration from other sources including dub, post punk and classical minimalism. These releases, then, too shape the tracks on 'In Memoriam'.
