Shygirl wins Best Electronic/Dance Act at 2024 MOBO Awards

Shygirl wins Best Electronic/Dance Act at 2024 MOBO Awards

Shygirl has won Best Electronic/Dance Act supported by BEMA and Mixmag at this year’s MOBO Awards.

The UK singer-songwriter, producer and DJ shared in her acceptance speech: “I’m just so honoured to be represented here and making music that I love.”

Also nominated for the category were Aluna, Nia Archives, PinkPantheress, salute and TSHA.

This year’s MOBOs took place at Sheffield's Utilita Arena and saw special achievement prizes awarded to Soul II Soul, Sugababes and Ghetts.

The top prizes of Best Female and Male Act went to singer Raye and artist Central Cee who also won Song of the Year with Dave on their hit track ‘Sprinter’.

Awards also went to Little Simz for Best Hip-hop Act, Bugzy Malone for Best Grime Act, Inflo for Best Producer and Potter Payper won Album of the Year for ‘Real Back In Style’.

Performances on the night included the likes of the Sugababes, Byron Messia, King Promise and Ghetts.

Last year the MOBOs worked with the Black Electronic Music Association, Club BEMA, to reintroduce the MOBO's Best Electronic/Dance award last year, with junglist Nia Archives winning the 2023 edition.
