Sheffield's The Leadmill launches crowdfunder to establish new venue

The team behind Sheffield's The Leadmill has launched a crowdfunder to support its reopening in a new location.

The historic music venue shuttered in 2025 after 45 years at its Eyre Street home after losing its eviction appeal against the building's owners, Electric Group, the owners of Electric Brixton, Electric Bristol and NX Newcastle.

Now, The Leadmill team are looking to raise £30,000 to help establish a new venue, promising that 100% of the money raised will go to securing a new space and building elements such as a stage, lighting and bars.

In an Instagram post published on Tuesday (February 24), The Leadmill team wrote: “Following the departure from our original home, we’re working towards securing a new permanent venue - a space where The Leadmill can continue to grow and bring people together.”

“This isn’t about starting over from scratch. It’s about continuing something that matters to people,” they continue. “If The Leadmill has ever meant something to you, we’d love you to be part of what comes next.”

In November, the owners of The Leadmill's former home, Electric Group, shared plans for a new venue that will launch under the name Electric Studios, which will act as a “subsidised creative hub” with “live music and club programming.”

With plans to launch the new space this spring, Electric Studios will reportedly feature a new d&b audiotechnik PA system, advanced lighting and production installations following a £2 million renovation.
