Selects: Gorgon City

Every week, Mixmag invites the world's most revered artists to bring us an Apple Music playlist, hand-selected by them and curated especially for your listening pleasure. From Disclosure to Bonobo, the Selects series has seen a wealth of artists dig deep for old school gems and fresh new beats.

We've said it before, we'll say it again, Gorgon City are on fire right now. The UK duo have gone from underground talents to international touring artists and although it's been through a lot of hard work and perseverance, it's paid off.

They've broke through into the UK top ten singles chart not once, but twice and they've collaborated with vocalists like MNEK, Jennifer Hudson, Yasmin and Wyclef Jean. With their new album being drip-fed in stages, 'Kingdom' is their most ambitious body of work to date, spanning a double LP that will eventually drop at the end of the month.

Now though they hold a residency at Amnesia in Ibiza for Together and the boys have risen to the task. They've already got a few dates under their belt and the next one promises to be the most special yet. King of NYC house, Armand Van Helden, will perform alongside the duo on the terrace on August 23 and it will be his last performance on the island this year.

So let's get prepare ourselves in style. These are the jams GC will be dropping to cause havoc on the Amnesia terrace and after a good listen, we may or may not have nicked a few for our own record bags. Cheers guys.

atmun 'Def'

This one's turned into a bit of an anthem for us over the last few months. We've been playing it pretty much every set. Definitely a producer to watch out for. Sounds great on the Amnesia terrace.

Christoph 'Divvina'

Something about this track just screams Ibiza to me. Perfect for 4am on the Terrace. Viva Music have been putting out pure quality recently.

Tru Fonix 'Bop'

This is from a great new charity based record label 'Beating Heart', where producers create new music from old unheard recordings from across Africa. This one is a favourite from the project. Has a really fun energy about it.

Damian Lazarus 'Sacred Dance of The Demon' (Gorgon City remix)

It was an honour to be asked by Damian to remix a track from this great album. The vibe of the original is so good, especially that vocal! so we wanted to keep the original as intact as possible, but add our Gorgon energy. Really pleased with how this came out.

Audion 'Mouth to Mouth' (Dense & Pika remix)

They've resurrected the original with a stunning remix package. Our favourite is the Dense & Pika remix, a straight up DJ tool. If you want an intense atmosphere on the dancefloor, all you need to do is drop this.

Gorgon City 'All Four Walls' (Maya Jane Coles remix)

We had some great remixes on this package. This was our favourite, an honour to have Maya put her spin on our single! Also look out for the Alan Fitzpatrick remix coming soon!

Vedic 'Aberrant'

This one is a great groove starter, works great to get people moving earlier on in the set. Love the build up, it's big but not too over the top.

Mat.Joe 'When You Hear That Sound'

Mat.Joe has been releasing some great material this year and it all sounds amazing in the clubs, especially in Ibiza. The tracks have great groove but also have nice techy drops and great use of vocal samples.

Shorty 'Vazilando' (Kryder & Thoneik Remix)

This ones for 3am to brighten up the dance floor and get everyone jumping again. A fun balearic banger with a nice Spanish vocal.

NYTA 'Two Know'

Bristol boy NYTA brings the goods on this one. Raspy midrange bassline surprises the dance every time. Great stuff from Redlight's Lobster Boy label.
