Rockwell and Novelist team up for collaborative track 'Peak'

Hot on the heels of his return track 'Estranged', Rockwell has teamed up with MC Novelist for his second single of the year, 'Peak'.

It's an atmospheric and imposing introduction which comprises of synth stabs and harmonic variations offered by Rockwell, which lays down an inviting sonic scape for Novelist to overlay his quick-fire bars.

His bars take a hit at the government for the state of a fairs, with a timely-relevant echo, rapping “The price of everything is going up, I’ve had to add another zero to my fee I’ve had enough… the government don’t care about a thing, they don’t want to see or hear a brother win” with a sample chiming in shouting how “the general public in this country know they are being mugged”.

“With a couple of my more recent productions I’ve been trying to strip things back, taking a more considered approach to adding elements and ensuring that everything that makes the cut its integral to the track," says Rockwell on the collaboration, available now via Obsolete Medium.

"I struggle to articulate how much of an honour for me it is to collaborate with Novelist on ‘Peak’, and from the recording session we did, the bars mirrored the instrumental and came together in an effortless fashion".

Born in the West Country and now based in London, Rockwell fell in love with drum 'n' bass during his university days at Bristol, before encompassing a swirling mass of influences into his 2015 debut album 'Obsolete Medium'. It was a melding of exploratory drum 'n' bass, hyperpop, trap, halftime and techno, with 2020 seeing EP 'Isolation Ritual' offer an early taste into his present day sound.
