Pusha T, the American rapper commonly referred to as the King of Coke Rap, has been enlisted to take on a remix on the new flick Cocaine Bear.

The rapper has dropped a rework of Melle Mel’s 1983 classic hip hop track ‘White Lines (Don’t Do It)’ for the new film, which landed in cinemas on Friday, February 24.

Directed by Elizabeth Banks, the new film follows a bear on a “drug-fuelled rampage” after consuming a large amount of cocaine - and its aftermath.

“After a 500-pound black bear consumes a significant amount of cocaine and embarks on a drug-fuelled rampage, an eccentric gathering of cops, criminals, tourists, and teenagers assemble in a Georgia forest,” reads the film’s synopsis.

Since its release last Friday, Cocaine Bear is estimated to have grossed around $23.3 million in the US and Canada, and a further $5.3 million in other territories.

The new track from Push T follows 2022’s ‘It’s Almost Dry’, the rapper’s fourth studio album laced with plenty of cocaine references.

Speaking to Desus & Mero after the release of ‘It’s Almost Dry’, Push T said: “People take the coke talk as a surface level way to describe what it is that I do.”

I feel like the drug references are the common thread that really encompasses everything culturally that’s going on, what’s going on in the streets,” he added. “I used to get upset about [people saying], ‘Oh, that’s coke rap’, when it’s like, man, nah, that’s all you hear?”

‘White Lines (Cocaine Bear Remix)’ appears on the comedy-thriller film alongside a handful of other tracks from the likes of Depeche Mode, Jefferson Starship, and US rock band Berlin.
