Paisley Park, Prince's estate just outside of Minneapolis, is to open its doors as a museum this autumn.

Opening it up to the public was apparently something Prince wished to do before he passed away and now, with the blessing of his family, people will be able to view the production complex in the city of Chanhassen from October 6.

His sister, Tyka Nelson, said: "Only a few hundred people have had the rare opportunity to tour the estate during his lifetime. Now, fans from around the world will be able to experience Prince's world for the first time as we open the doors to this incredible place."

Visitors will get to go inside his rehearsal rooms and video editing suites on the tour, with awards, his concert wardrobe, instruments and motorcycles among the things on show.

An official statement reads: "The new Paisley Park museum will offer fans a unique experience, an exhibition like no other, as Prince would have wanted it.

"Most important, the museum will display Prince's genius, honor his legacy, and carry forward his strong sense of family and community."

Bremer Bank, the administrator for the estate, has worked with the musician's family on the venture they wish to "realize Prince's long-term vision for the property."
