Premiere: Slackk cocks the dark and delicate 'Desert Eagle'
Introverted instrumentals forthcoming on R&S
Back with a banger, Boxed co-founder and melodic grime figurehead Slackk sheds ‘A Little Light’ on his forthcoming LP.
From his roughneck UK house experiments on Numbers to his notable offerings on Local Action and Unknown to the Unknown, his new album out on R&S is said to be his “most idiosyncratic and personal release yet”.
Described as "an album filled with uncertainty and individuality, utterly unconcerned with what’s happening outside of its own world", 'A Little Light' highlights Slackk's carefully honed sound. Much like affiliate Mr. Mitch, (who went In Session for us last month) his sophomore project blends his stripped-bare grime variations with elements of r'n'b, pop and house, with an over-arching gentleness reflecting his upcoming role as a father.
That gentleness gives way for the fidgety, forward-thinking track that is 'Desert Eagle'. It may be short in length, coming in at just over three minutes, but it’s packed full of substance. It’s rolling and atmospheric lull is equally dark as it is delicate.
