Premiere: LOFT's 'I Am Bouyant' is a slice of mutated club madness
Making a white label debut on Astral Plane Recordings this month
Not many make a debut quite like LOFT did last year.
Releasing on Astral Plane Recordings, his ‘Turbulent Dynamics’ EP was met with critical acclaim and support from his experimental contempories, such as Lee Gamble and Acre.
Much like the Los Angeles based-label, which cites, “no frills, no bullshit” as part of its ethos, LOFT’s sound speaks for itself. Dancefloor focused, his productions are packed with enough power to break through the physical into a new realm of headsy electronica.
Full of abstract nuances and dizzying distortions, his follow up on the label will see an old favourite, 'Heffalump', make a vinyl debut. It will be joined by 'I Am Bouyant', the track we're premiering today.
Described as a, “hairbrained proto-jungle track”, the tune fuses the classic traits of old skool jungle with the futuristic imaginings of new-skool synths. With a heavy focus on drum patterns, breaks, and bombastic, mind-bending sound design, it’s mutated, mangled madness – in the best way possible.
The hand-stamped, hand-numbered 12" will be the club imprint's first ever physical release, with ‘I Am Bouyant’ playing B-side to the heavy-hitting ‘Heffalump’.
‘Heffalump b/w I Am Bouyant’ is out July 28 on Astral Plane Recordings.
