Premiere: Alix Perez combines harrowing and hazy on 'Inside Your Love'

"Versatile: able to adapt or be adapted to many different functions." It's one quality that's ensured Alix Perez is sitting way up high in the drum 'n' bass pyramid, especially since the launch of his label 1985 Music earlier this year.

The 'Elephant Dreams' EP came first, spawning the sheen-smothered 'Had I Known', but his stormier side came to the fore on Skeptical collaboration 'Room 667'. Those familiar with his Shades project, a joint venture with Eprom, will know just how volatile the Belgian producer is. 'Gravediggin'' is a prime example of just how sinister he can get.

His dual production personality rears its head again with 1985's next instalment, the 'Numbers' EP. 'The Raven' kicks things off with a growling bassline, but the glistening textures of 'Drifting' and 'Numbers' lighten the mood.

In between those lies 'Inside Your Love' and on this we get a combination of harrowing and hazy. The former comes via the bumpy, mechanical kicks and the latter's represented by the sleepy vocals that Perez has mastered over his 11-year career. Dive in below.
