Poté shares glittering, introspective new EP 'To Say Goodbye'

Poté has shared his latest EP, 'To Say Goodbye', released via his own imprint Versicolor.

With his career rooted in club music, before experimenting and finding his own voice, the six-tracker sees the musician blend the two, treading between the rhythmic sound of his St Lucian heritage and emotionally-driven songwriting.

“This is a project based around transience," Poté explains. "The recognition that nothing lasts forever. So for that I wanted to write a project that represented me, as if it were to be my last. A project which felt fearless in its honesty about love, loss, fear and joy. A project which didn’t try to hide behind layers, one of genuine vulnerability and openness."

Opening on an electrifying dancefloor cut, 'Why Don't You Call' kicks the record off on a high point, before the emotional journey proceeds. Coming to life during Poté's European tour with Bonobo, its electronica and euphoric-laden two-and-a-half minutes capture emotions of longing for connection and affection.

As the record progresses, each track is driven by a moment, a feeling or a situation, with Wretch 32 featuring on 'Our Love' - but of particular prominence is EP closer 'To Say Goodbye'.

"This was meant to be the last song I released," Poté says on the track. "I'm very glad that my mind has changed over time but the sadness in the reality of that moment still remains very poignantly in the song. It means so much to me, this song will forever remain dear to my heart for that reason."
