​Octave One announce first full-length record in five years, ‘Never On Sunday’

Detroit born-and-raised duo Octave One have announced plans for the release of their first record in some five years, ‘Never On Sunday’.

The name of the album nods to their second alias, Never On Sunday, which the duo relaunched last year with the release of their first EP under the moniker in over three decades.

‘Never On Sunday’ is due to land on April 28 via their own imprint, 430 West, spanning 20 new and old tracks in a deluxe release. The techno innovators also invite remixes from the likes of Skream, Orbital, and Giorgia Angiulu.

In 2022, Octave One put together a comeback record titled ‘Contemplate’ under their Never On Sunday alias. The release was first teased in 2021 with a remix from Skream, set to reappear on their forthcoming album next month.

The record marked 30 years since the duo’s initial hiatus in 1992, and the release of their last EP under the Never On Sunday moniker, ‘Day By Day’. The project was halted to spend more time on their techno-focused alias.

As Octave One, the brothers have continued to play live shows across the world, with their last full-length record ‘Endustry’ landing in 2018.

Speaking on Mixmag’s On Rotation podcast in 2018, Octave One’s Lenny Burden explained that he’s never enjoyed DJing to crowds. “I personally was never active as a DJ. Lawrence was and still is a great DJ, my brother Lionel is a great DJ,” he said.

“I personally never liked it. I never felt comfortable playing other people’s music, I didn’t like the solitude of being by myself.”

The duo are set to perform a live set this May back in their hometown at Detroit’s Movement Festival, and will make their way to Europe this summer with an appearance at Amsterdam’s 909 Festival.
