New nightclub Tilla Tec to open in former De School building
Set to be housed within the ex-school building in Amsterdam, the new venue is said to be launching next month
A new nightclub is set to open within the former home of Amsterdam's De School.
Tilla Tec, set to open its doors on April 12, is said to be a joint project between Samuel King and DJ Lola Edo — the founder of queer bar pamela.
According to a translated article by Dutch publication, Het Parool, the project has a provisional lease date ending April 2025 which it hopes to extend.
Edo shared the news to Instagram writing: "So proud to finally be able to tell you that we're opening a new place. Always been my wish to make the city a bit more interesting with my experience."

Resident Advisor reports that the project will be a "multidisciplinary space," hosting a restaurant and workshops alongside club nights. Tilla Tec will have a capacity of "around 900 visitors," with rentable spaces for pop-ups, exhibition spaces and more.
The venue formerly hosted Amsterdam's beloved 700-capacity club, De School which shut for good in January 2024. De School occupied the converted school since 2016, functioning as a nightclub, concert venue, restaurant, Cafe, exhibition space and gym.

Despite the now-defunct nightclub's storied tenure at the site, Tilla Tec's marketing director Passion Dzenga told Het Parool that the new venue "will only share an address with De School."
Dzenga shared that organisers plan to use the space in a "different" and "dynamic" way. "Sometimes it is a restaurant or café, other times an exhibition space and then a club."
According to Dzenga, Till Tec hopes to provide space for minorities, especially queer people and people of colour citing that the organisers themselves are part of those communities.
Details of the official launch party have yet to be announced.
