Nadia Lee Cohen-directed music video lands for Aphex Twin’s ‘Korg Funk 5’

British photographer and filmmaker Nadia Lee Cohen has directed a new music video for Aphex Twin’s 2017 track ‘Korg Funk 5’, made in collaboration with Warp Records

Earlier this week (July 28), Cohen unveiled the full music video on Instagram, co-directed by fellow collaborator and photographer, Charlie Denis.

The video follows Cohen as the protagonist, who embarks on a surrealist journey through death, dance, police chases, resurrection, and more across its bonkers 3-and-a-half minutes. US rapper JT also appears as a cameo.

The new music video was teased by Cohen on Instagram just a day before its release, when she shared a still from the video stamped with Aphex Twin’s signature logo.

‘Korg Funk 5’ was originally released in 2017 in a collaboration with Japanese synth company Korg, made entirely using a Monologue instrument created by Tatsuya Takahashi. The track also features vocals from AFX’s son.

In March, Aphex Twin curated an “original playlist” for streetwear brand Supreme after teaming up on a collection of clothing.

The 191-track playlist featured the likes of Azymuth, Burial, Tangerine Dream, Squarepusher, Brian Eno, Ragga Twins, Actress, Kraftwerk, Run-DMC, Andy Stott, and Salamanda, among many more.

Last year, Aphex Twin also released a reissue of his ‘Selected Ambient Works Volume II’ in celebration of its 30th anniversary, which landed via his long-associated label, Warp.

The new edition of the record marked the first time that every track was made available on all formats, with ‘#19’ previously only available on the original vinyl release in 1994.
