The Museum Of Modern Electronic Music in Frankfurt confirms new opening date

A new museum in Frankfurt named The Museum Of Modern Electronic Music (MOMEM) will finally open in April 2022 after issues with a lack of funding.

The launch will include an exhibition on German DJ Sven Väth and explore the techno DJ’s private archive of art, sound, photographs and much more.

MOMEM had been put on hold since it was first announced back in 2015. The delays were caused by issues with funding and a search for the perfect location.

The exhibition titled: Sven Väth—It's Simple To Tell What Saved Us From Hell was curated with help from one of Väth’s close friends, sculptor Tobias Rehberger.

The idea of the museum came from Andreas Tomalla, who also founded Technoclub, a weekly techno party in Frankfurt that ran from 1984 through to2000.

Museum director Alex Azary has said: "There is no better opening exhibition for MOMEM,".

He added: "Because Sven Väth and Tobias Rehberger have each, in their own way, taken electronic music culture from Frankfurt to the world."

The museum will go on to host more exhibitions on the history and future of electronic music. With multiple rooms, there is to be interactive and immersive exhibits.
