New 250-capacity nightclub and arts venue to open in Tottenham, radial
The space takes over the former home of both Five Miles and later MOKO, hosting live music, performances and cultural events
A new small-scale nightclub and arts venue is opening this month in Tottenham, London, taking over the space once occupied by both beloved shuttered venue Five Miles, and later Bradley Zero and Nathanael Williams’ listening bar MOKO.
The 250-capacity space, named radial, is set to open after securing funding from Arts Council England's Supporting Grassroots Music (SGM) scheme.
Established by Ten87 Studios, a "musical community" that runs 50 recording studios across London, radial will operate as a live music, performance and cultural events space.

The venue will sit on Markfield Road, close to Seven Sisters, and will be run with a focus on quality sound and a programme built around "active listening", from club nights to "artist-led experiments" such as sound-based wellness, talks, and workshops.
radial’s design is led by creative studio SODA, and is based around Olafur Eliasson's ‘The Weather Project’, which famously went on display at the Tate Modern in 2003 – an installation mimicking the sun with warm yellow and orange hues.
The venue’s lighting pulls inspiration from Eliasson’s project, while its seating features Japanese-style loungers with space for up to 80 people seated, and 250 standing.

Elsewhere, radial features a 10-point bespoke soundsystem with "precisely designed acoustics" by Nick Whitaker, who has previously worked with Plastic People.
"A venue was always at the centre of our vision for the building. Small venues are essential for the artists within our studio community," explains Ten87’s Rob Burn.
"When the previous venue closed, it left a big void," he added. "It feels like a natural next step for the business and we hope to build on the incredible cultural legacy of Tottenham."
