A new 1,500-capacity nightclub is set to open in Ibiza on the site of the now-shuttered venue, Sankeys.

Avyca is due to open officially this summer, although no date has been confirmed as of yet. The venue announced the news on Instagram this morning (April 22), alongside a teaser trailer, writing: “Chapter one, coming soon”.

The club is projected to open as the Ibiza 2024 summer season kicks into shape. It takes the site of the former Playa D’En Bossa venue Sankeys, which operated from 2011-2018.

“Avyca offers DJs and brands that are on the rise - a venture into taking things to the next level. A launching platform for Ibiza, let’s say,” Music Director Andrei Hancu tells Mixmag.

“Because of that advantage, we can be a precursor," he added. "I’m certain that DJs who play in the club this year and in the future will become the next big stars.”

The club will host an array of Balearic-endorsed genres from house to techno and minimal, each represented by “cultured line-ups” selected by a specialist booking team.

Inside the newly refurbished venue, Avyca promises “high-spec production and world-class sound”, featuring a roof terrace and an intimate, low-ceiling main room, as well as a larger warehouse-style second room.

At the end of 2023, Avyca ran two trial events in the run-up to its official opening this summer. The first event featured the likes of Ferro, Tania Vulcano, and Hugo Martinez, while the second hosted Voigtmann, Giuliano Lomonte, and 2VILAS.

Although no line-ups have been confirmed for the new club yet, Avyca assured that it will welcome a “tasteful mix of intergenerational guests and residencies”.

During its seven years in operation, Sankeys hosted parties seven nights a week including regular events from dirtybird, Viva Warriors, Flying Circus, and more.
