Munich's Public Possession to close after being “forced out” by new landlords

Munich record store Public Possession has announced that it is set to close after being allegedly “forced out” by new landlords.

The shop, located on Klenzestraße in the centre of Munich, had been on the site for a decade having opened in March 2013, and had become well-loved for its collection and in-store sessions.

It also launched its own record label arm in 2013, and has released records from the likes of Samo DJ, Obalski, Eden Burns and Wolfram.

The shop will be closed at the end of the month with a series of in-store sessions from Public Possession friends and local Munich artists running throughout March, with the likes of Young Marco, DJ Trompete and Clara Knör set to play.

Its owners Marvin and Valentino told Mixmag that they will be “looking for a new space where we can hopefully continue in the not so distant future”.

In a statement on its website, Marvin and Valentino said: “With sadness we have to announce that after 10 amazing years our time at Klenzestraße 16 will bee over by the end of this March.

“Through a change of landlord, we are both being forced out of the building,” they continued.

“We want to express our gratitude to all those who have given us support over the past years. We had FUN!

“Please drop by in the next weeks, we will be offering a series of special activities and more, all to be announced soon!

“All this is not the end, just a new beginning! See you out there.”
