Mixmag partners with BBC Radio 1 for month-long residency

Mixmag has partnered with BBC Radio 1 for a month-long residency on the station.

We will be curating R1 Dance Presents throughout September with a focus on giving a platform to DJs who are busy taking the sound of their local regions to a worldwide audience.

Representing the global sound of underground dance music will be Nicola Cruz, the Ecuadorean artist who takes great inspiration from his Latin American ancestry; Shimza, one of the leading lights of the South African house scene; Nazira, the techno trailblazer from Kazakhstan; and Dee Diggs, the self-styled selectress from New York City who is dedicated to upholding true house music.

Each DJ will present an hour-long mix every Friday night/Saturday morning in September on BBC Radio 1 from 2am BST. Lock in to hear four of the most crucial artists currently operating in dance music.

The R1 Dance Presents slot lands right after the iconic Essential Mix. You can listen live on BBC Radio 1 or via the archive on the R1 Dance Presents online portal.

The residency kicks off tonight with Nicola Cruz in the mix and continues on September 12 with Shimza, September 19 with Nazira and September 26 with Dee Diggs.

Editorial focusing on each artist will also be presented throughout the month on Mixmag.net.
