Michael Mayer & Barnt (Kowton Remix)
Three of the best on one track
When you're instrumental in setting up Kompakt, one of the most influential electronic music labels of all time, you're naturally going to turn heads whenever you release something and that's exactly what Michael Mayer's been doing for just under two decades.
He's released a huge amount of music in that time and remained at the forefront of the scene with his mind-bending techno cuts. Now it's time for a new project and of course, it's as ambitious as ever.
His new album '&' sees him collaborate with some of the planet's leading musicians and of course a whole lot of friends. The 12 track LP features tracks with Roman Flügel, Agoria, Kölsch, Miss Kittin and Barnt. His collaboration with Barnt is a trippy, majestic number that's drenched in voodoo tones and there's now a remix package to accompany the track.
Patrice Baumel has put his own spin on 'Und Da Stehen Fremde Menschen' but here we concentrate on UK favourite, Kowton's edit. As expected the Livity Sound don has stripped everything back and turned the suspense into structure, with steely tones and a demonic 4/4 running through its core.
The new album is great and so are the remixes, once again confirming everything we knew about Mayer, that he's ever the innovator and showing no sign of slowing down.
The 'Und Da Stehen Fremde Menschen' will be released on September 5 via !K7 Records
