Biography on the life and career of MF DOOM set for release this year

A biography on the life and works of MF DOOM is set for release later this year, written by journalist S. H. Fernando JR, aka SKIZ.

Chronicling the anonymous artist’s career from his range of personas, projects, and more, the book will look behind the scenes of the late rapper’s life with exclusive interviews.

The Chronicles of DOOM: Unraveling Rap’s Masked Iconoclast is broken into five sections: The Man, The Myth, The Mask, The Music, and The Legend.

Each section covers a different aspect of MF DOOM’s life, from growing up in the hip hop group KMD to his first-ever masked show, as well as his love for cartoons and comics on top of many other key influences in his career.

DOOM - real name Daniel Dumile Jr. - died suddenly three years ago on October 31, 2020, after being hospitalised with an adverse reaction to blood pressure medication at St. James' University Hospital, Leeds. He was 49 years old.

This week, fans celebrated the 20th anniversary of DOOM and Madlib’s influential and beloved album ‘Madvillainy’.

In 2021, it was reported that DOOM had nearly completed a follow-up to his acclaimed collaborative album with Madlib before he died.

The founder of Stones Throw Records - the label that released the 2004 classic LP - explained on the podcast show Juan Ep is Dead: “DOOM was always telling me ‘It’s 85% done, it’s 85% done.’ That was the magic number.”

He revealed that DOOM sent him 11 tracks for the project back in 2009, but wanted to delay the release in order to finish “a few more songs”, adding: “I got a little frustrated, and I was just like, you know, ‘it’s gonna happen when it’s gonna happen'. I don’t wanna be the guy to force creativity or anything.”
