Mathame release mix created by A.I. algorithm

Italian DJ duo Mathame have released a new mix put together with an A.I. algorithm. ‘Old Neural Mixtape Vol.1’ is out now via Apple Music.

The algorithm has been put together by Apple to test the power of the new Apple M1 processor architecture.

This new technology allows artists to separate tracks into harmonics, vocals and beats to then rebuild new versions of the tracks quickly and spontaneously. Mathame first trialled this A.I. technology for their 2020 BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.

‘Old Neural Mixtape Vol.1’ includes music from the likes of Arca, Burial, Plastikman, MF Doom and Buddy Rich.

Mathame say, “The beauty of this technique is that it’s not perfect, the little mistakes and sonic artifacts shade it with unprecedented feelings. Working it was more human than the classic way of mixing tracks. This sounds like a lo fi cyborg mix, maybe the future of dance mixtapes.”

‘Old Neural Mixtape Vol.1’ is the first instalment in a series of mixtapes that have been created using this A.I..
