Luke Vibert

One of the original Cornish generation of weird ravers along with Aphex Twin and Tom Middleton, Luke Vibert is a ridiculously prolific and distinctive producer. Whether he's turning his hand to spaced-out hip hop as Wagon Christ, jungle as Plug, disco as Kerrier District or all three plus a dose of squelching acid as himself, the same signatures are always there in his music: good-naturedly swung beats, ultra-crisp sound, quirkily comical samples and big splattered caps. Everything is present and correct here, and though it can get silly (do we need a Phil Collins cut-up on the dancefloor in this day and age?), there's enough discombobulating oddness and funk to go around elsewhere.
