Los Angeles promoters team together for annual 'LA Gives Back' charity event

Time to get in the holiday spirit

Last year, a handful of Los Angeles' prominent party crews got together in the spirit of having fun for a good cause and raised $54,000 for charities dedicated to the homeless population in the city at an event called LA Gives Back.

The event has returned for its second year, schedule to take place on December 20 at Union Nightclub. Organized by IHEARTCOMIX, promoters on board include Brownies & Lemonade, Space Yacht, Ham on Everything, Late Night Laggers, Echoflex, Restless Nites and Adult Swim, and each will take over one room in the venue with surprise guests scheduled to pop in all night long.

On the night of the event, the venue will have toy, food, coat and women products drives and 100 per cent of proceeds will be donated to charities including My Friend's Place, which provides assistance and education for the homeless youth population of Los Angeles and the Downtown Women's Shelter, which provides permanent housing, workshops and healthcare information to the homeless women of Skid Row.

"We love throwing parties, but if you have a platform and don’t use it to bring awareness of issues in your own community then you’re being irresponsible," says Adam Weiss of Ham on Everything. "The fact that these amazing LA parties that make up the fabric of our scene can all come together, not only to raise awareness but to raise actual money to and create real change, is incredibly moving. We’re so proud to be a part of this. Last year exceeded our expectations tenfold and we can’t wait to see what this year’s LA Gives Back has in store. This event is a beautiful representation in what “community” actually means.”

Last year, surprise guests included Mr. Carmack, Ekali, Classixx, Valentino Khan, Kittens and Diplo, so it's looking likely that this year's LA Gives Back edition will be another not to miss. Tickets are available here.
