Listen to ‘Once’ from Anenon’s forthcoming LP
The Friends of Friends-signee shares a new track and improvised performance
LA-based saxophonist and producer Brian Allen Simon, better known as Anenon, has released 'Once' from his third forthcoming album ‘Petrol’. Also, Simon has shared audio from a one-off performance for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles inaugural Monument series.
‘Once’ sees Simon paired with drummer John-Kyle Mohr. Mohr is a consistent contributor to ‘Petrol’, matching Anenon’s improvised sax riffs and swathing padded tones with tight and speedy percussion reminiscent of jazz-fusion drummer Jack Dejohnette. The duo explored their synergy further when collaborating with violinist Yvette Holzwarth and guitarist Sam Gendel for their Monument performance at MOCA, which can be heard here.
‘Petrol’ is out on March 4 via Friends of Friends, but ‘Once’ can be heard ahead of release below.
