Blackpool-raised, London-based DJ and producer Effy has released her first single of the year, ‘Not Yours’.

The track is an acid-driven techno cut, demonstrating her enjoyment of grittier club production.

Often, the producer’s tracks have thoughtful meaning and motivation behind them - such as her 2020 release ‘Bodied’ being a celebration of female pleasure - and ‘Not Yours’ is no different.

“I made ‘Not Yours’ as a nod to not being owned or controlled by any one person, society, stereotype or group of people,” explains Effy. “It was during a period of finding myself and gaining new confidence after dealing with some of life's challenges, after the world had reopened.

“This also for me was a celebration of clubs opening and I tried to channel the kind of music I had particularly enjoyed hearing out and playing at recent shows.”

Alongside her solo works, the DJ and producer has worked with Mall Grab alongside remixes for Scuba, Earth Boys and Franc Moody.
