Kid Cudi forced to cancel world tour after breaking foot at Coachella

Kid Cudi has been forced to cancel his world tour due to breaking his foot jumping off stage at Coachella Festival last weekend.

The artist was carried off stage mid-way through his set at the Sahara Tent on Sunday (April 21), following an attempt to "jump into the crowd."

In a statement posted on Twitter following the set, Cudi confirmed that he had been taken to hospital with a broken foot: "Never broken a bone before so this is all a bit crazy," he wrote. "I wanna thank u all for ur concerns and well wishes!! I love yall man. I heard yall still ragin when I was offstage. Made me smile big."

However, in an update shared to Instagram on Wednesday (April 24), Cudi revealed that the injury is "much more serious" than first thought — detailing that his broken calcaneus will require more surgery and a "long recovery time."

“We have to cancel the tour so I can focus on getting better to be out there in top shape to rage with you all. There’s just no way I can bounce back in time to give 100%," he continues.

The Orthopaedic Trauma Association claims that a broken calcaneus, which is the largest bone in the heel, can take "between three to four months to heal."

"We will be back with new tour dates as soon as possible," the statement from Cudi continues. "I can't wait to turn up with you guys and turn up how we do."

All ticket holders will get "full refunds," he promises. "I'm just as disapointed as i'm sure you guys are too, but I will be back."

The tour was set to start in June across the US, Europe and the UK with support acts Pusha T, Jaden Smith and EarthGang.
