Kanye West’s ‘The Life of Pablo’ is the UK’s first streaming-only gold album
Certified gold
Kanye West’s eighth studio LP ‘The Life of Pablo’ has broken another record.
After becoming the first album to be certified as platinum from streams alone in America this April after clocking up over 1.5 billion US plays, it has now become the first album to go gold in the UK from only streaming, meaning it has been listened to 100,000 times.
The data comes from the Official Charts Company, who started including streams in the UK charts in 2015.
‘The Life of Pablo’, which has never been released in physical form and was initially released solely through Jay-Z’s Tidal streaming platform, debuted at 30 in the charts and has remained in the Top 100 for 47 weeks.
