The Lab NYC is Mixmag and WAV's weekly live stream and post-work unwind, powered by Void Acoustics, where we showcase the finest DJs direct from our Brooklyn office. This Friday, April 13, we welcome Kamran Sadeghi for a modular live set followed by a gripping techno DJ set from Julia Govor.
NYC-based Julia Govor started her career as a DJ in Moscow, following a move from her home in Abkhazia, Georgia. Despite an isolated upbringing she discovered music as a way to connect her to the outside world. 2013 saw her move to NYC where she has gone from strength to strength producing and DJing.
She’s had solo EPs released on Akkult and Rhythm Cult as well as having her tracks remixed by huge names like Seth Troxler and Ricardo Villalobos. Along with these remixes she has also worked with Nina Kraviz, Richie Hawtin and Jeff Mills; collaborations of which have helped shape the incredible DJ you’ll see perform this Friday.
Despite Govor’s already massively busy schedule she’s also working on her own record label called Jujuka, which will see its first release prior to this summer. She also has a collaboration with Jeroen Search set for release in September on Pushmaster Discs.
Kamran Sadeghi is also a NYC-based producer focusing on the live aspect of performance. His eclectic background working in music involves film scores, ambient electronic and sound art which has led him to creations of soundscapes difficult to parallel. His specialisms in techno and more experimental productions have been released on labels such as Vinyl Factory, All Inn and Sensoramic. His new ‘Vesel’ EP is out now on the Sensoramic label with a remix release also coming soon via Mayak Records.
On WAV, fans can discover new artists and follow their journeys through exclusive content, interactive live streams and behind-the-scenes clips. Aside from being an artist discovery hub, WAV is a producer of quality original series and live-streamed content. Download WAV in the iTunes and Android app stores now.
