Joey T teams up with Tee Mango for new EP 'Strong Team'

Manchester-based Joey T has teamed up with Tee Mango to release collaborative EP 'Strong Team', via SUPERUNKNOWN.

The pair met on a mentoring programme ran by Tee, with SUPERUNKNOWN a space for spotlighting artists on said programme.

Joey T takes the reigns on lead track 'When You're Not On My Mind (WYNOMM)' - think classic, loose house energy - before Tee Mango arrives on remix duties, and the provision of two final tracks, channelling a left-leaning electronica style.

"The story of 'WYNOMM' is a long and winding one," Joey T tells Mixmag on his contribution. "The original demo is actually a lot older than my recent releases; shout out to my friend and collaborator on those, Lady Lady and the labels that supported us, Mas O Menos and Sprechen.

"A friend of mine reminded me of a rough sounding MP3 of a very early version that I’d forgotten and I found myself digging out my dusty old computer to try and finish it off. So, with some tweaks and some love from my good friend and fellow musician Shae on the final vocal, we’ve turned it from a lowkey foot tapper to something that’s really getting people moving in sets when I’ve been road testing it.

"Tee Mango had been mentoring me via his ‘FINISH YOUR F***ING TUNES’ programme and asked me what I’d been making. 'WYNOMM' happened to be in a private Soundcloud playlist of things I’d been making recently and he really dug it. The release of the record ties in nicely with a lot of the stuff that we learned about on the programme so it feels like a nice full circle moment to have him remix and release my track on his new SUPERUNKNOWN imprint."
