Whenever a piece of music has the Mr G stamp on it, you can sure as hell bet it's going to be amazing. Colin McBean has been churning out incredible house and techno for nearly two decades and he has one of the most extensive discographies of any artist on the circuit.

We delved into the maestro's record bag with our Selects playlist and he revealed that it's not just the dancefloor-focused bangers that make him tick. It could be our favourite episode of the series to date but now something even more exciting is happening as Mr G is delving into unchartered waters with his label Phoenix G.

The imprint has acted as a home for all of Mr G's productions and apart from one release back in 1999, no other artist has released via the label but that's about to change. Birmingham producer Jayson Wynters will drop his debut EP on February 5 and 'Unfamiliar Territories' is an impressive burst onto the scene.

Talking about Wynters, Mr G said:

"I first met Jayson in Stockholm three years ago and over the next few months we'd keep bumping into each other. I soon learnt he was a budding producer. Eventually I get sent his music and I gave some positive critique. A year later another batch arrived and I thought wow is this the same guy?

There was depth, soul and emotion yet in a totally personal way with a vision – and he's a Brummie! I had to take a chance and put my money where my mouth is and show my support as this shit touched me – dope!"

And dope it is. We have the premiere of the title track and you can look forward to tranquil melodies set again thick bass riffs and scattered percussion. It follows a similar mentality to a lot of G's tunes and that can't be a bad thing. Expect big moves from Wynters and Mr G, well we love you.
