This week, for the second edition of The Lab Johannesburg, we’re welcoming in German-Nigerian DJ JAMIIE alongside two very special guests hailing from South Africa, 104 BPM and Masšh. JAMIIE’s flying career has seen the producer navigate through a residency at Berlin’s Watergate and take part in the artist collective RISE thus far, now landing in a territory where techno, house, and Afro-influenced productions take hold. Now, internationally in demand, JAMIIE settles in Berlin where she’s due to release debut tracks on Watergate Records, Studio Kreuzberg, Cacao Records and Harabe Recordings.

Warming up for the Berlin-based artist is Johannesburg’s own Masšh, a producer influenced by dark classical music. As Masšh picks up recognition worldwide, he’s garnered support from the likes of Sef Kombo, Da Africa Deep, and Kid Fonque as he continues to create a unique, self-dubbed “astral" sound. Joining him behind the decks ahead of JAMIIE’s set is 104 BPM reigning from South Africa’s Kwa-Zulu Natal, a DJ dedicated to cinematic sounding projects with use of field recordings, unusual samples, and an enormous range of influence. Working alongside producers such as Kitty Amor, Sun-EL Musician, and more, 104 BPM now regularly releases on the UK’s DM.Recordings.
