Instagram is hiring a meme manager

If you’re passionate meme account follower and DM slider, Instagram has the job for you.

The social media platform has posted a job advert looking to hire a manager to “work with emerging digital media publishers” - aka, meme accounts.

Instagram has had a rocky relationship with meme accounts recently, after a series of purges disabled more than 142 accounts with follower counts as high as 1 million and beyond. A statement to The Atlantic from Instagram cited “violations of our policies, including attempted abuse of our internal processes” as the reasoning.

Naturally, this has angered a lot of meme creators, who have built lucrative businesses out of their accounts.

Instagram is now trying to address this with new role ‘Strategic Partner Manager - Digital Publishers’, which sounds very corporate, but is designed to smooth over its relationship with content creators.

Check out the advert here.
