Ibiza has officially been added to the UK’s green list for travel.

Transport secretary Grant Shapps has confirmed that from 4:AM on June 30, anyone entering the UK from these destinations will not be required to quarantine.

On Twitter, he wrote: “Thanks to our successful vaccination programme, our intention is that later in the summer. UK residents who are fully vaccinated will not have to isolate when travelling from amber list countries.”

The decision has been made following protests from the travel industry.

Protests were held across the UK yesterday with airlines and travel industry employees discussing the devastating impact that the travel sector has faced in the past 15 months.

Protestors took to empty runways with placards, while others stood outside Westminster calling for the government to offer financial aid and open up more countries for green list travel, with more and more being vaccinated each day across the UK.

Six countries added to the red list are Dominican Republic, Eritrea, Haiti, Mongolia, Tunisia and Uganda.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has also suggested all EU countries should make British travellers quarantine on arrival to slow the spread of the Delta variant, meaning holidays to the EU could potentially be difficult for Britihs tourists.

Speaking earlier about the prospect of a change to travel rules, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: "The most important thing is that we think double jabs do offer a good way forward, we think they offer the hope of travel this summer.

"More than 60% of our population have now had two jabs, I think 83% have had one jab, we're really getting through it now. The crucial thing is, come forward and get your second jab."

Reviews to the travel list are made every three weeks.
