Hudson Mohawke and Lunice reunite as TNGHT for new single

Hudson Mohawke and Lunice have come back together as TNGHT after two years to release a new track, ‘Tums’.

The duo dropped their latest single today, November 4, marking their first new music together since 2019’s EP ‘II’, an eight-track record receiving critical acclaim on release.

Their latest addition, ‘Tums’, is a raucous club track - a fast-paced hitter pushing their bassy, outlandish sound to its very limits.

Speaking on the new track, Mohawke said: “'Tums' was made from that collective feeling of ‘omg maybe there actually ARE going to be parties again’.”

“That feeling seemed to inspire the first principles of the TNGHT project: Keep it really fun. Dumb. Hard-hitting. Don’t overwork it,” he said.

Lunice adds, “this one really showcases our two distinct styles and how well they still work together despite their sonic differences.”

‘Tums’ also came alongside a new music video directed by Dan Streit, a typically TNGHT-style video bringing the track to life as a fun, but bonkers, visual.

The duo’s last release was also long-awaited, with a seven-year gap between their first record, self-titled ‘TNGHT’, and 2019’s ‘II’. Upon its release, Lunice explained: “While it doesn’t sound the same as the first record - the energy is. This could only come from us.”

The pair curated a Radio 1 Essential Mix in the same year and made a huge return onto the dance music scene following their 2012 breakout.

TNGHT are set to play their first live show together in years on Saturday, November 6, at the Catwalk in Los Angeles.

‘Tums’ is out now via Warp and LuckyMe. Check it out below, and buy the new TNGHT track here.
