Horst Arts & Music festival announces first wave of acts for 2023 edition

Belgium’s Horst Arts & Music festival have announced the first wave of acts for its 2023 iteration.

Naming half of the artists who will be on the final bill, there are some familiar faces for the Brussels event, which takes place between Friday May 5 and Sunday May 7.

Artists include Job Jobse, SASS, the group moniker of Peach, Saoirse, Moxie and Shanti Celeste, as well as Bitter Babe B2B Nick León, Mama Snake B2B Spekki Webu, Nikki Nair and Jane Fitz B2B Carl H.

On top of the international names, Horst have placed a bigger focus on local artists, such as Hicham, Walrus and DTM Funk & Errol. French-born, Brussels-based Hicham will play his selections of deep cuts at peak time on Friday, with DTM Funk & Errol doing the same on Saturday.

Similarly to last year, there will be a collaboration with Brussels radio station Kiosk Radio, who will curate a stage line-up.

Simon Nowack, a programmer for Horst said: “With our Kiosk Radio collaboration, we always had the ambition to empower our country’s fertile local scene.

“Brussels, and Belgium by extension, has had some great DJs come forward the past few years so for the upcoming edition we want to empower and support that vibrant local scene,” he continued.

“The ambition for 2023 is to have an exciting line-up that sports a broad range of sounds and is well balanced out with household names, up & coming international artists and locals on all spots in the running order.”

There will also be a completely redesigned programme for the festival’s arts section, with artists gaining specific commissions to pay homage to the people, tenants, visitors and occupiers “who make a city into an actual city”.

80% of weekend tickets had already been sold before any part of the line-up was announced, and the day tickets for the Saturday are already completely sold-out.
