Sommerøya is Norway's only house and techno festival with DJ Koze, Nastia and more
The two-day Oslo event runs from August 17 to 18
Norwegian festival Sommerøya returns on August 17 and 18 with a hearty house and techno line-up, from international DJs to local artists.
The ever-masked Claptone, who provided us with a joyous In Session recently, shares the bill with UK techno producer Surgeon, Spanish progressive house artist Henry Saiz, Pampa Records boss DJ Koze and Mixmag cover star Nastia.
On top of world-class talent, there's plenty of homegrown stars to discover. Flying the Norwegian flag behind the decks are Joel:K, Runther, Andre Bratten, Thomas Skjærstad, Ksmisk, Beth Lydi and Karolinski.
Running for nine years, it's the only festival in Norway for house and techno and takes place in Ekebergsletta, an epic, grassy hillside spot in Oslo. The Main Stage will be the place for house music, while the Hangar Stage is where you'll find techno.
Don't just expect the usual festival programming. There will be a B2B marathon, bringing Norwegian DJs together for a collaborative set, and they'll be looking to trump the 17 that played together last year.
Fan of art? That's all taken care of, too, as there will be exhibitions, installations and performances, with 10 artists and collectives showcasing work. There's also the Knowledge programme which delivers panel debates, lectures, workshops and viewings.
Sweden's Sebastian Mullaert said: "I'm super happy to be back in Oslo and play an extended long live improvisation at the amazing Sommerøya festival".
