Ghastly in The Lab LA

The Lab Los Angeles is Mixmag and Smirnoff Sound Collective's weekly post-work unwind where we stream only the finest American and international DJs, direct from our Downtown LA office. This Friday we have Ghastly coming in to light The Lab up with his eclectic bass-heavy selections.

Los Angeles-based artist David Crow better known as Ghastly, has an undeniably interesting backstory that might help to explain his uniquely crafted style of bass-music. From growing up on an Arizona goat farm, to touring with metal bands, to eventually living out of a van on Venice Beach in order to land a career in dance music, David arrived at his place in the scene after a bizarre journey.

Ghastly eventually gained a residency at mega-club Exchange LA and from there released via a handful of dominating labels including OWSLA, Dim Mak and Buygore. His original collaboration with Mija and Lil' John called 'Crank It' hit huge as a track which truly embodies dance music's status in The US right now, and his 2014 throwback track which was released just this year called 'Lil' Trick' proves that he's been ahead of the curve for quite some time. Get a taste of Ghastly here.

On opening duties will be DJ, designer and bass enthusiast WHITEHORSE, also known as Natalia Benson. This year, LA-based artist Natalia hit up some major California festivals including Lightning In a Bottle and Coachella.

The Lab LA is strongly powered by Void Acoustics. Watch Ghastly in The Lab LA below or via MixmagTV.

The Smirnoff Sound Collective is all about bringing fans closer to the DJs, providing up and coming talent with a solid platform and throwing unique events where fans and artists can party together. Check out more from the Sound Collective here.
