German football club to rename ground in honour of Paul Kalkbrenner
Fifth division club SV Sparta Lichtenberg will now play home games at the 'Paul Kalkbrenner Sportfeld'
A German football club has renamed its ground in honour of Berlin producer, and lifelong fan, Paul Kalkbrenner.
According to the Berliner Morgenpost, SV Sparta Lichtenberg - who play in Germany's fifth division - will change the name of its home turf in Rummelsburg from Sportplatz Fischerstraße to the 'Paul Kalkbrenner Sportfeld'.
The decision was made in conjunction with the club, Kalkbrenner, and the local officials from Lichtenberg, the hometown of the musician.

SV Sparta boss Mathias Geyer referred to Kalkbrenner as a "true Lichtenberg boy" who "used to play football for us and is still in contact with the club" via the Berliner Morgenpost.
The new name will be officialised following a "naming ceremony" on September 26, during which SV Sparta Lichtenberg will play "Team Kalkbrenner" in a charity fixture.

Having once played for the club, Kalkbrenner was also reportedly instrumental in bringing the World Cup trophy to Lichtenberg following Germany's win in the 2014 World Cup. The producer played a live set at the Sportplatz Fischerstraße to mark the visit.
