George Michael has died aged 53
The UK singer passed away on Christmas Day
George Michael has passed away at his family home aged 53.
The singer and producer sold more than 100 million albums in his career and rose to stardom as part of 80s pop group Wham!, who brought us influential hits such as 'Last Christmas' and 'Club Tropicana'.
Michael was due to release a film in 2017 which would feature the likes of Mark Ronson, Mary J Blige, Tony Bennett and Liam Gallagher, and it had also been announced that he was working on a new album with producer Naughty Boy.
The artist’s publicist said: "It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.
“The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage."
