​Fundraiser launched to help Boo Williams “become mobile again” after hospitalisation

A fundraiser has been launched to help legendary Chicago DJ Boo Williams “become mobile again” after being hospitalised earlier this month.

On February 7, Boo’s family shared news that he had been admitted to hospital with “a few serious ailments”, which they later explained to be kidney and lung issues.

Boo’s family asked for financial support towards medical bills by purchasing his music, writing: “The Bandcamp label is one of his main sources of income. He has expressed his desire for privacy and wants to just make music to pay his bills.”

In an update posted to Facebook on February 14, his family explained that he had been temporarily released from hospital, but was admitted again on “medical advice”.

“Boo was transferred to a much better hospital and is mentally in great spirits. In the very least, he will have to undergo physical therapy to become mobile again,” it reads.

A fundraiser was set up to help support Boo, asking for “any donations to cover expenses”. His family thanked fans for their support.

Boo has since posted a series of update videos from hospital, explaining: “This is my current situation right now. I’m in hospital, but I just wanted to thank a lot of people who have donated and helped me out, I appreciate it.”

“Hopefully I’ll be getting out of here soon, and back to normal. I really appreciate everybody who has reached out, your help means a lot. I hope to see you soon.”

In his latest update, Boo explained that he should be out of the hospital and “back to doing music and doing what I love to do best” very soon.
