Francois K in the Lab NYC

The Lab New York is Mixmag and Smirnoff Sound Collective's weekly afterwork party where we stream the best American and international DJs from the intimate space connected to our Brooklyn office. This Friday, the iconic DJ/producer François K will take over The Lab NYC.

François K has been a staple in dance music since the late 70s. From touring with Larry Levan to spooling out high-profile disco medleys, he's built a name on quality work during dance music’s formative years. He's played iconic clubs like Studio 54, Paradise Garage and the Loft as well as remixed artists like Depeche Mode, Maya Angelou and Kraftwerk. In the mid-90s Francois K went on to co-present one of New York’s most revered party nights Body&SOUL with DJs Joaquin 'Joe' Claussell and Danny Krivit.

For the last decade and a half, Francois K has helmed the diverse weekly party Deep Space NYC, at NYC institution Cielo, as a founder, curator and resident DJ with a focus on dub and spaced-out techno. Deep Space NYC has featured a wide range of likeminded and pioneering musicians who have a knack for reformatting the dub genre in creative ways. The likes of Derrick May, Rhythm & Sound, Kode9, Mary Anne Hobbs and many more have graced its decks over the years.
