David Byrne and Fatboy Slim have announced their collaborative concept album and musical, ‘Here Lies Love’, is coming to Broadway.

The double LP, based on the story of Imelda Marcos, the former First Lady of the Philippines, was released in 2010 and later transformed into a full theatrical production and musical, including runs at New York’s Public Theater in 2013 and London's Dorfman Theatre in 2014.

Marcos was removed from power alongside her husband, dictator Ferdinand Marcos, in 1986.

In a statement given to Pitchfork, the producers confirmed: “As a team of binational American producers—Filipinos among us—we are thrilled to bring ‘Here Lies Love’ to Broadway!"

“We welcome everyone to experience this singularly exuberant piece of theatre. The history of the Philippines is inseparable from the history of the United States, and as both evolve, we cannot think of a more appropriate time to stage this show. See you on the dance floor,” they added.

The original record, first released in 2010 alongside a 100-page book explaining the story of Imelda Marcos, featured 22 tracks across 90 minutes with features from Florence and the Machine, St. Vincent, Róisín Murphy, and Santigold.

‘Here Lies Love’ also tells the story of the People Power Revolution, which sought to overthrow Marcos and her husband and restore democracy in the Philippines, all of which will be explored in the forthcoming musical.

Set to debut on Braodway this summer, Here Lies Love is developed and directed by Alex Timbers, and choreographed by Annie-B Parson, notable for her work with David Bowie, Laurie Anderson, and more.
