Ewan McVicar releases new EP, 'Heather Park'

Ewan McVicar has released his latest EP, 'Heather Park', with the title track having been in the making for two years.

The two-tracker is named after his childhood street where he grew up in Scotland, employing bouncing rhythms throughout to create an upbeat, almost nostalgic feel, conveyed through his decision to use a thicker bassline and various melodic elements.

'Heather Park' dropped yesterday, the same day as the DJ and producer's appearance in Mixmag's Lab LDN.

"Heather Park is the street I grew up in, in Kincaidston, Ayr," he says. "I shared a room with my two brothers and we grew a family bond in this house like no other. Writing Heather Park in my mind was the melody and pulling as much emotion from the pluck as I could.

"With the name being after our first family house I wanted it to be reminiscent of all the great memories we had in there and that's where the thick bassline, strings and pads come in to add more emotion. This is one of my favourite ever projects."

On the day of the release, Ewan conveyed his excitement at the reaction to the release, which landed during a busy week for the artist who played an impromptu three-and-a-half hour b2b with Skream at Hideout Festival in Croatia.
