Everything you need to know about Jack Ü

You've heard of Skrillex and you've heard of Diplo. Both are globe-trotting artists and producers whose combined fanbase is roughly the same size as China. Together they've been working under the Jack Ü guise and while you may know about the artists respectively, it's time you got familiar with everything they've done as a power duo.

With a debut album imminent and more buzz around them than a beekeeper slathered in honey, 2015 will be the year the world gets well and truly Jacked. Here's our starter guide that contains everything you need to know about Jack Ü before the hype is fully realised.

Jack Ü: Who/What/When?

It's simple really. Skrillex x Diplo is Jack Ü and it's a collaboration that makes a lot of sense. Diplo runs things over at Mad Decent and Skrillex leads the noisy charge at OWSLA. Both are producers at the height of their game and they're no strangers to working with other big-time names. Of course Diplo has already produced for (take a deep breath) M.I.A, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, No Doubt and even Justin Bieber. Yes, fucking Bieber.

Skrillex too has production credentials as long as his arm. He's a six-time Grammy Award winner and is part of Dog Blood with Boys Noize and anyone who can roll with the Noize has their shit down. He's one of the most hyped artists on the planet and his rise to the top is one of the quickest we've seen in recent years. You can't talk about mainstream dance music anymore without talking about Skrillex.

Jack Ü became official back in September 2013 when the pair played at the Mad Decent Block Party in San Diego and they've been teasing us ever since.

What we've actually heard

So in terms of actual music we haven't heard a great deal. The song that's caused the most commotion is their official first single, 'Take U There'. It features the serene vocals of Kiesza and dropped late last year. There were of course some massive remixes to back the single and Zed's Dead, TJR, Netsky and Felix Cartal all offered up some heavy edits.

The other solid bit of music is the pair's Beyoncé remix and we were all pretty startled to hear what they'd done to Queen B. The remix positively popped off and as with anything Jack Ü related, we now know that the internet loses its shit quite quickly when Diplo and Skreezy are involved. It got uploaded to their SoundCloud then shortly removed but you can listen to the outrageous mutant trap stylings below.

What about mixes you say? Well there's two that are worth sessioning and they don't really need much summing up. Wild bass music from the off, they aren't for the faint-hearted but are well worth a listen.

The first is a Diplo & Friends radio show that he and Skrillex recorded for Radio 1. It's a Jack Ü special so you know what to expect and the set is packed with exclusives. New tracks 'Cumbia Maluca' and 'Jungle Bae' were dropped alongside the pair's collab with 2Chainz called 'Febreeze'.

The second is their MASSIVE NYE set live from Madison Square Gardens. In case you didn't know, they sold the fucker out and cemented their status's as dance music royalty. This one is a stream you can watch so get ready for hyperactive dancers, inflatables and plenty of epilepsy-inducing visuals.

What can we expect next?

If 2014 was the year that Jack Ü established themselves as a worldwide force to be reckoned with, then 2015 is the year that they step up to the plate and knock it right out of the ballpark. One of the latest revelations came from Diplo via his Snapchat profile.

If fans of Dips can't get enough of him online then they just need to head to the photo-sharing app to see a wealth of self-indulgent selfles and topless snaps. Aside from that he also uploads a huge amount of snippets from the studio and after news that Missy Elliott would be guesting on the 'Take U There' remix, we are now finally treated to the full audio. Acid overload baby.

We were also big fans of the teaser that came complete with its own gyrating American Football bruiser.

What's more exciting than Missy Elliott stepping up to release some fiery bars over the top of Jack Ü's raucous beats? Well an album of course and it looks like we won't have to wait as long as expected to hear an LP full of bangers. After Skrillex recently said material should be coming "sooner than later", Diplo revealed at the Grammys that "an album called 'Jack Ü'" is out this month.

This year promises more music, more noise, more collabs, more inappropriate Snapchats and more of the bonkers Jack Ü same.
