Ell Murphy returns to her label with soulful new single 'Emotional'

Ell Murphy has shared her new single, 'Emotional', via her own imprint Juicey Tunes.

A soulful, high-energy cut, the record is co-produced by longtime collaborator Giulia Tess, paying homage to the 90s dance music which Murphy grew up alongside.

"Emotional is my heartbreak anthem for the summer, hugely inspired by the 90s dance pop that I grew up on," she notes. "I wrote the track last year after a guy I was dating broke up with me out of the blue; in a way to help me cope with suddenly feeling so heartbroken.

"It was also a response to how we’re often made to feel like we need to hide and suppress our emotions, and ‘play it cool’ with men, so I wanted to write a song about being unashamedly emotional and not being scared to express how I feel to someone.

I brought the demo to Giulia Tess, who executed my vision for the song perfectly with her production.”

'Emotional' is also accompanied by a classic piano house B-side, 'Need to Know'. Produced by Medlar, the track once more features Murphy's ethereal vocals foregrounding a pumping, key-driven beat.

Having already collaborated with names including TSHA, Mafro and Y U QT, 'Emotional' marks the second single in a run of forthcoming releases throughout 2023 on Jucey Tunes.

It'll be supported by a series of tour dates throughout the UK across September including Brighton, Manchester and London, followed by a London-based launch party on October 6.
