​Dr. Dre's semi-autobiographical drama pulled due to its lewd plot

Superstar producer, hip-hop pioneer and billionaire businessman Dr. Dre has been hard at work creating a semi-autobiographical drama, titled 'Vital Signs', for the launch of Apple's forthcoming TV streaming platform.

Intended to be one of the flagship shows for the launch of the new Apple TV service, the company's CEO Tim Cook has decided to cancel the series all-together - due to the fact that it features an excess of sex, violence, drug use and various obscenities.

Mr. Cook broke the news to Apple Music executive Jimmy Iovine - both a close friend and business associate of Dr. Dre - that the drama, which is meant to be loosely based on Dr. Dre's life, was simply "too violent."

The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple is aiming to attract a more "family-friendly fare" with its new TV feature by avoiding partnerships with shows that revolve around gratuitous subjects and feature overindulgent violence.

It is unsure whether Dr. Dre plans continue production on the show and attempt to shop out his dark, autobiographical drama series to another streaming service.

Despite this setback, Dr. Dre continues to move forward with his cinematic ambitions. After securing both the blessing and music rights from the Marvin Gaye's family, Dr. Dre is in the early stages of producing a film about late singer Mowtown legend. Learn more here.
