The Martinez Brothers, Carl Craig and A-Trak share their love for the late artist
The news of rapper Prodigy's death was an obvious, heartfelt blow to the entire music community. At only age 42, Albert "Prodigy" Johnson passed away in Las Vegas after performing as recently as Saturday.
Though the cause of his death has yet to be confirmed, Prodigy had been battling sickle cell for many years.
Prodigy was one half of the hip hop duo Mobb Deep alongside Havoc, which was formed in the 1990s and is considered an influential pioneer of his genre. He was scheduled to release a 2017 album, though no release date had been announced.
His sudden and surprising passing has devastated many of the music community that were both friends and fans of the talented artist.
