DJ Spinna needs your help after being forced to have emergency surgery

Prolific and versatile NYC-based producer DJ Spinna had emergency surgery last week, which will force him to focus on his recovery over the next few months. Now, as he's had to cancel a string of gigs, the music community has come together to support the influential artist during this difficult time.

Outlined in a GoFundMe page set up by the artist's friend Moe Choi, DJ Spinna had an emergency surgery for an appendectomy, which is a ruptured appendix.

The post goes on to describe why DJ Spinna is in need for extra support: "The recovery process for this procedure is long and difficult. As a result of this surgical procedure DJ Spinna will be unable to fulfill prior bookings as well as future DJ gigs. This will prevent him from earning any income during this extended recovery stage. It will be extremely hard for him to support his family as well as cover towering medical expenses he’s incurred from this unforeseen circumstance."

Aside from his extensive release catalogue that touches on hip-hop, house, funk and soul, DJ Spinna is also a family man. The beneficiary of the GoFundMe will be his wife, Keita Williams, who will ensure the funds cover for lost wages and to pay for medical expenses as Spinna is recovering.
